A new era has begun in traffic control in Turkey. Artificial intelligence radar cameras that have started to be used on highways automatically detect speed violations and various traffic offenses. We can say that the system, which is actively used by the Highway Gendarmerie, has a more advanced infrastructure compared to traditional speed control methods.
Artificial intelligence radar cameras have started service
In the new generation mobile speed detection system, artificial intelligence can automatically identify the brand, model and color of vehicles. The camera system determines the speed limit valid for each type of vehicle by monitoring the traffic in four lanes at the same time and detects whether this limit is exceeded.
Information about vehicles exceeding the speed limit is instantly transmitted to the gendarmerie teams. In addition, when the system detects vehicle owners with arrest warrants, it gives an alarm and enables security units to intervene quickly. This system can interrogate exactly 750 vehicles per hour.
The cameras are not limited to speed violations only, they also analyze the direction of traffic flow. In this way, it allows motorcycles without front plates or vehicles with unreadable plates to be fined by detecting their rear plates. This ensures that practices such as license plate manipulation are rendered ineffective.
New inspection technologies are not limited to fixed radar cameras. Gendarmerie teams now also use artificial intelligence collar cameras. Thanks to their facial recognition feature, these cameras enable the detection of people with arrest warrants during GBT checks.
